Combinatorics: permutations, combinations, and other counting questions are a notorious question type on the GMAT. Most people haven’t even studied these topics in school.
To make matters worse, most GMAT books teach you the wrong way to solve them. That is, you don’t need the stupid n!/(n-r)! equations to solve any Combinatorics question you’ll see on the GMAT. In fact, most of the time those equations simply confuse the issue.

We’ll discuss when it’s worth counting by hand and when it’s useful to use more of a specific framework like the Slot Method. We’ll discuss how to deal with “at least” questions, and when it will work better to calculate the total and subtract what you don’t want.
